The Minister for Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, who is also the First Lady, has urged parents in Ntungamo to prioritize their children’s education to ensure a future of responsible Ugandans.

In her message, delivered by Ntungamo District Woman MP Joselyn Bata Kamateneti at the 5th graduation ceremony of Rap Tech Institute of Business and Technology in Ntungamo Municipality, Minister Janet emphasized the critical role of education in combating ignorance and advancing societal progress.

She encouraged graduates to focus on creating job opportunities rather than merely seeking employment, urging them to start their income-generating projects.

According to a report read by Principal Byaruhanga Nickness, a total of 145 Ugandans graduated, including 113 females and 32 males.

Nahamya Eilfred, Deputy Executive Secretary of UBTEB and head of the technical wing urged parents to avoid enrolling their children in unregistered institutions. He highlighted that attending illegal schools often fails. He also stressed the importance of embracing vocational education by parents, students, and education providers. Nahamya pointed out that acquiring practical skills can lead to self-reliance through service provision.

He emphasized the need for students to gain competencies that will help them navigate the current job market. He encouraged parents to support girls pursuing vocational courses such as planning, building, and construction, noting that these fields are often wrongly considered suitable only for men.

Seth Rukurungu, Private Secretary to the First Lady, called on graduates to uphold discipline as they enter the job market. He stressed that, alongside their academic achievements, maintaining discipline is crucial for securing job opportunities.
