In a bid to bolster support for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the Kigezi region, Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Hon. Chris Baryomunsi, orchestrated a comprehensive training session for NRM leaders from Kanungu district.

The event, which took place on Friday, saw leaders from various levels convene to delve into NRM ideologies and to receive guidance on updating their details in the NRM national voter registers.

Minister Baryomunsi, who also serves as the Western Region NRM Vice-chairperson and represents Kinkizi East in parliament, spearheaded the training session with fervor. Emphasizing the significance of grassroots mobilization, Baryomunsi underscored the need for local leaders to be well-versed in NRM principles and equipped with the necessary tools to engage their communities effectively.

The initiative comes in the wake of the NRM’s nationwide campaign to update the party’s voters register. Despite the campaign’s momentum elsewhere, progress has been sluggish in the Kigezi region.

Minister Baryomunsi recognized this disparity and seized the opportunity to bridge the gap by empowering local leaders with the knowledge and skills required to facilitate the registration process within their constituencies.

During the training session, participants were briefed on the importance of registering and updating their details in the NRM voter registers. Minister Baryomunsi emphasized that a robust and accurate register is essential for ensuring the integrity of internal party processes and for facilitating inclusive participation.

Looking ahead, Minister Baryomunsi announced plans to officially launch the update of the NRM voters register in Kanungu district next week. The launch is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, with Baryomunsi at the forefront of the proceedings.

The gathering occurred at the council hall of Kanungu district.
