The USSSA football tournament for boys in Rukungiri District kicked off with great enthusiasm across various venues on Thursday, showcasing impressive performances from renowned schools.
Matches were held at multiple locations, including Rukungiri Main Stadium, Kagashe, Buyanja, Kebisoni, and Rumbugu playgrounds, drawing in crowds of spectators.
Kyabugashe High School stood out as one of the top performers of the day, securing victories in all three group matches without conceding a single goal and netting a total of 13. Other notable teams such as Buyanja Grammar, Makobere High School, Bishop Ruhindi, and Kashenyi SS also demonstrated their prowess on the field.

- Kashenyi SS dominated with an 8-0 win against Kyatoko Hillside.
- Bugangari SS and Katurika SS played to a goalless draw.
- Kyabugashe secured a 3-0 victory over Bwanga SS.
- Makobore High School edged out Rukungiri H/S with a 1-0 win.
- Buyanja Grammar triumphed over Blessed Parents with a 4-0 scoreline.
The competition was intense among schools in Groups ABCD & E, with Groups F, G, H, I, and J scheduled to compete on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the same venues.
A total of 32 teams will advance to the Round of 32, followed by subsequent rounds leading to the quarter-finals, scheduled for Friday, March 15, 2024.
Schools that have qualified for the Round of 32 include Kyabugashe High School, Buyanja Grammar, Kashenyi SS, Makobere High School, Bugangari SS, Bishop Ruhindi, Bwanga High School, Blessed Parents, Nyabushenyi H/S, Bwanga SS, Bwambara SS, St. Athanasius, St. Anthony Padua, Kagunga Seed School, and Kyatoko Hillside.
The semi-finals and finals are set to take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Rukungiri Main Stadium, where Bugangari SS will defend their championship title.
