The Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, has officially opened a new 12-kilometer road connecting Mashuri to Kijuma in Rutenga Sub-county. This newly constructed road replaces a previously narrow and poorly maintained path, which had long been a source of hardship for residents.
The inauguration ceremony saw the attendance of many jubilant residents who welcomed representatives of Minister Baryomunsi. They expressed their gratitude, noting that the new road will greatly benefit several villages in the area that had never before seen such infrastructure. Rodgers Twongyeirwe, the area councilor, highlighted that the road will serve the villages of Mashuri, Katagiramizi, Keseenene, Ruhago, Kanyamaato, and Ishaaya.
Emmy Magezi, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC), who represented the minister at the event, stated that the road project was initiated by Dr. Baryomunsi using his resources. During a prior visit to the area, the minister had walked the entire route and was moved by the residents’ struggles due to the lack of a proper road. This personal experience inspired him to fund the construction.
Residents recounted the difficulties they faced, including carrying patients on stretchers to the hospital, which often resulted in fatalities due to the absence of adequate transport. In response to this new development, the community pledged their support for Dr. Baryomunsi in future elections, recognizing his tangible contributions to their welfare.

In a related development, Minister Baryomunsi has also committed to completing the construction of a health facility in Migyera Parish. This facility, once operational, will serve Kazuuru and surrounding areas. The health center project had been initiated by the local residents but stalled due to financial constraints. Following his visit, Dr. Baryomunsi promised to take over the project and has already started supplying cement, labor, and other essential materials to ensure its completion.
Magezi further emphasized that Dr. Baryomunsi is dedicated to working with the government to support both private and public institutions, aiming to foster the social and economic transformation of citizens.
The completion of the new road and the ongoing efforts to establish a health facility mark significant milestones in improving the infrastructure and healthcare services for the residents of Rutenga Sub-county.
