The Executive Director of Kigezi Women in Development, Florence Tumuheirwe, has urged female journalists in the Greater Kabale District to steer clear of activities that could damage their professional reputation.

Tumuheirwe advised them to resist inappropriate advances from male colleagues while working in the field and broadcasting to Ugandans, emphasizing that such conduct could jeopardize their careers.

Tumuheirwe shared these remarks during a one-day workshop organized by Climate Women Media Action. The workshop, held at the New Hilltop Hotel in Kabale Municipality, aimed to empower female journalists in climate advocacy and enhance their reporting to focus on accurate and factual climate issues. She encouraged the journalists to remain self-driven, committed to their profession, and to avoid actions that might undermine their careers, despite the challenges they face.

Arinaitwe Hedwig, the Director of Climate Women Media Action, stressed the importance of training female journalists in artificial intelligence and data visualization. Arinaitwe noted that the decision to train female journalists was driven by the noticeable absence of their voices in climate storytelling.
