Mbarara City Mayor Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi emphasized the importance of providing accurate information to enumerators during the 2024 National Population and Housing Census. He cautioned against spreading misinformation about the purpose of the census data, particularly false claims suggesting it could lead to future tax increases by the government.
Speaking at a media briefing at the City Council Hall today, Kakyebezi expressed concerns about individuals providing misleading information to census workers. He urged residents to cooperate fully and provide truthful responses during the census.
Meanwhile, Mbarara Resident City Commissioner, Lt. Col. James Mwesigye, assured the public of security measures to safeguard the census process.
Lydia Tuhaise, the Principal Statistician at the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) and Mbarara City Census Commissioner encouraged all Ugandans to participate actively in the census exercise and ensure they are accurately counted.
