Mbarara district RDC Turyabagyenyi Emmanuel Kateera has directed district leadership both technical and political never to implement any government project without being launched officially.
Turyabagyenyi sounded the directive while officiating at the official launch for the heavy grading of Kagongi Kyakajebere 4.3 kilometer road in Kagongi sub-county Kashari north Mbarara district.
The district engineer Mbarara William Bananuka says the maintenance program estimated to last four days will cost the government of Uganda over 9 million shillings under the Uganda Road Fund .
RDC Turyabagyenyi requested the local government leaders of Kagongi sub-county to make sure the money is properly utilized as specified in the scope of works.
He explained that the road to be worked on must have some impact on the population to add value and boost development.
The Mbarara district Chairperson Tabaro Didus requested all people who will be affected by the construction of roads to accept losing gardens of crops that fall in road reserves to have an improved road network to promote social and economic development.
The district engineer Mbarara William Bananuka revealed that the Ministry of local government is introducing another Community Agricultural Infrastructure Improvement Program four that will benefit very poor income-generating sub-counties.
Bananuka says program four will be implemented in the sub-counties considered to be poor like Bukiro and Rubindi according to the guidelines.
The chairperson Kagongi sub-county Evarist Twine and local council leaders witnessed the launching ceremony appreciating what their RDC Turyabagyenyi Emmanuel Kateera has done in promoting transparency and accountability.
