Authorities at Buhara Health Center III in Kabale District have expressed deep concern over the lack of a fence, which poses a significant risk to the facility’s equipment and the lives of medical personnel.

Moreen Kirungi, the in-charge of the health center, revealed that the facility had recently experienced a break-in, where thugs stole iron bars from the storage area.

Additionally, over the past four months, the health center has suffered losses of solar batteries due to the absence of a fence.

Kirungi expressed her concerns during a one-day medical camp organized by Sino Minerals Investment Limited with 9 Chinese Doctors from Naguru China Uganda Friendship Hospital at Buhara Health Center III in Buhara Sub County, Ndorwa East County, Kabale District.

Currently, the health facility receives an average of 50 patients per day.

Kirungi emphasized that once the facility is fully fenced, it will enhance safety for the equipment and the lives of the medical staff, thereby improving service delivery.

She also expressed optimism that the availability of ultrasound scan services would benefit patients.

In response, Dr. Gilbert Akanwatsa Mateeka, the Kabale District Health Officer, acknowledged the necessity of fencing the facility.

However, he explained that due to competing needs in the district, the necessary resources for fencing are currently lacking.

Nevertheless, he assured them that the plan to fence the facility remains in place for the future.

Brian Munanura, the Assistant Manager of Sino Minerals Investment Limited, stated that the Medical Camp is part of the company’s social corporate responsibility and has incurred costs of 33 million shillings
