Police in Bushenyi District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 46-year-old man at the hands of a mob.
The incident occurred on February 7, 2024, around 5:30 AM in Rushinya Cell, Central Ward, Central Division, Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality, in Bushenyi District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi Police, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Musasizi Jamil, aged 46, a resident of Katerera in Rubirizi District.
According to reports, on February 7, 2024, three men broke into Dominic’s bar, located in Rushinya Cell. Dominic raised an alarm, prompting neighbors to respond and apprehend one of the intruders. The individual was subjected to assault before being rescued by the police and taken to Bushenyi Health Center IV, where he succumbed to his injuries.
God Bainomugisha, the chairman of LC1 Rushinya Cell, stated that the deceased was found in possession of tools commonly used for breaking into homes.
The body of the deceased bore multiple signs of violence and was transported to the Kampala International University Teaching Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
