Police of Kanungu District have in custody John Tumwebaze Viani a resident of Ibambiro cell, Rusoroza parish in Kihihi Sub County for having adulterated food with slaughtered dog meat.
The suspect was arrested on Friday 2nd June 2023 at around 11 am, in the bush at Rutwe cell, town ward in Kihihi town council with a slaughtered dog that he was packing in the sack to take it for sale in a yet-to-be-known location.
According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesman, Police got a tip-off from residents led by Bogere Ibrahim a resident of Rutwe cell after they saw the suspect in the bush and thought he had stolen a goat that he intended to slaughter.
On reaching the bush, the residents were however surprised when they instead found the suspect slaughtering a dog.
Elly Maate added was apprehended and is currently in custody and upon completion of inquiries, he will be arraigned before courts of law to answer charges accordingly.
A case of being found in possession of adulterated food was opened at Kihihi Police Station under reference number SD 13/02/06/2023.
