The Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament, Lion. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa has called on politicians to avoid merging personal differences with politics, emphasizing that such actions hinder development.
Hon. Rutahigwa made this appeal on Thursday, 19th December 2024, during a Rukungiri Municipal Council session held at the New Palm Royale Hotel along Katerera Road in Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.
In his address, Rutahigwa commended the council for its informed deliberations and criticized the conduct of certain self-seeking individuals who pursue cheap popularity by spreading false ideologies on public platforms such as bars and social media.
The MP highlighted notable achievements in the municipality, including improvements in health, infrastructure, education, and economic growth. He challenged the public to recognize and appreciate these developments instead of succumbing to misleading criticism from detractors.
Rotarian Steven Nsubuga Bewayo, the Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC), also addressed the session. He acknowledged the municipality’s vision for development and urged residents of Rukungiri District to prepare for the President’s state visit to the Kigezi region, scheduled for mid-January 2025.
During the session, Rukungiri Municipality prioritized roads, street lighting, hygiene, and sanitation as key focus areas in the 2025/26 Financial Year.
