Lightning claimed its 7th victim in Kigezi region on Tuesday in just under 20 days after 14-year-old Judith Ndyamuhaki a pupil of Cundura primary school and resident of Kagano cell Karengyere parish Muko sub county Rubanda district was struck dead.

According to ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesman, the incident occurred on 21/03/2023 at 6:30Pm, at Kagano cell when the victim was on her way from school heading home  

Police was informed by the father of the victim  Tophine Bangirana, visited the scene and postmortem was done and the body was left to relatives for burial.

Kigezi has borne the brunt of lightening strikes since the beginning of the month of March, the first victim was Chimpaaye Beatrice from Kisoro District, followed by Kanuunu Ambrose and his two children in Rubanda district

The other two victims Jolly Baryakabuuza and her son Enoth Tukwasiibwe were struck dead in Nyabiteete Rukungiri district
