Security leaders in Ntungamo District have commended the government’s initiative to enhance security by deploying additional police officers to various stations.

Tindimwebwa Coleb, the LC3 Chairperson of Rubaare Sub-county and head of security, expressed his gratitude for the deployment of 13 police officers in his sub-county. He noted that previously, Rubaare had only one police station in Omungyenyi, which was manned by just three officers.

Tindimwebwa is optimistic that the increased security presence will help curb rising cases of theft, including livestock, food, and other property. He emphasized their commitment to cooperating with security personnel by conducting regular patrols to ensure safety in the sub-county.

Meanwhile, Rubigumira Edward, the LC3 Chairperson of Rwamabondo Town Council in Kajara Constituency, revealed that the deployment followed complaints from beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model (PDM) about increased cases of pig and cattle theft, among other valuables purchased through PDM funds.

Rubigumira welcomed the deployment of 12 police officers in his area, noting that previously, limited security personnel had made it difficult to conduct adequate patrols across Rwamabondo. He assured residents that they would work closely with local council leaders and other stakeholders to enhance security and protect people’s property.

According to Hanington Busheija, the District Police Commander (DPC) of Ntungamo, the deployment is not a response to any security crisis but rather part of the president’s initiative to improve security across various sub-counties in Uganda. He emphasized that this program is being implemented nationwide, not just in Ntungamo.
