Adding to their concerns, residents highlighted issues with the electrification efforts in the area.
Despite the presence of electricity poles and infrastructure, they alleged that Hon. Muhwezi had obstructed efforts for households to connect to the power supply, citing bureaucratic hurdles imposed on local engineers.
In response to these perceived failures, the community has rallied behind new candidates whom they believe will prioritize their interests and deliver on long-overdue promises. Mary Paula Turyahikayo for Woman MP of Rukungiri District and Frank Rukanirwa for MP of Rujumbura Constituency have emerged as frontrunners supported by the community’s strong endorsement.

In a proactive move to document their grievances and demands, residents meticulously compiled evidence in written form, distributing copies to every LC1 chairperson across the parish. This concerted effort aims to hold elected officials accountable and ensure that future leaders are held to higher standards of transparency and responsiveness.
