In a fervent display of civic engagement, residents of Kyabahanga Parish in Bwambara Sub County, Rukungiri District, have voiced their dissatisfaction with incumbent area Member of Parliament Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi, accusing him of unfulfilled promises and neglect of their community’s needs.

During a meeting held on Friday attended by passionate locals and community leaders, grievances were aired regarding promises made by Hon. Muhwezi, including the provision of water from Ntungwa River to Kayaga Center and throughout Bwambara Sub County.

Residents expressed frustration over the lack of progress on critical infrastructure projects such as a Health Center for the parish, the Rushaya Bridge linking Bwambara, Kyabahanga, and Kikarara Parishes, and essential road improvements.

Adding to their concerns, residents highlighted issues with the electrification efforts in the area.

Despite the presence of electricity poles and infrastructure, they alleged that Hon. Muhwezi had obstructed efforts for households to connect to the power supply, citing bureaucratic hurdles imposed on local engineers.

In response to these perceived failures, the community has rallied behind new candidates whom they believe will prioritize their interests and deliver on long-overdue promises. Mary Paula Turyahikayo for Woman MP of Rukungiri District and Frank Rukanirwa for MP of Rujumbura Constituency have emerged as frontrunners supported by the community’s strong endorsement.

In a proactive move to document their grievances and demands, residents meticulously compiled evidence in written form, distributing copies to every LC1 chairperson across the parish. This concerted effort aims to hold elected officials accountable and ensure that future leaders are held to higher standards of transparency and responsiveness.

Jim Muhwezi is an outstanding man, I don’t understand if he is a leader.
I remember the speech of Museveni to Jim on his previous talks when he said ,,Jim was a lawyer but I wonder Museveni praising him but nothing he can rob from His Excellence to his people of Rujumbura.
