Authorities in Kisoro district have lauded the outgoing District Resident Commissioner, Hajji Shafiq Ssekandi, for his non-sectarian approach to work and unwavering commitment to the district’s development.

RDC Ssekandi, who has dedicated a total of four years to serving Kisoro district, from 2015 to 2018 and then from 2022 to 2023, has been granted a two-year study leave.

He shared his plans, expressing his intention to pursue a Master’s in Business Administration at Kingston University in central London.

He clarified that he has not resigned from his position as RDC but rather harbors aspirations for higher roles once he completes his master’s degree.

Ssekandi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Kisoro district, his team, the district councilors, the district leadership, and the residents for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.

He singled out the Bafumbira community for their astute behavior, commitment to truth, and strong work ethic. Additionally, he commended President Museveni for entrusting him with leadership responsibilities and urged the local populace to continue supporting the NRM government.

The Kisoro district LCV Chairperson, Abel Bizimana, praised RDC Ssekandi for leaving a legacy of excellence in Kisoro district, setting a high standard compared to his predecessor, Retired Captain Peter Mugisha. Bizimana extended his best wishes for Ssekandi’s future endeavors.

The Kisoro district Speaker, Amos Hakizimana, lamented that Ssekandi’s departure will leave a void in Kisoro as he has been an energetic and unifying force in all facets of development for the district.

Byensi Expendito, a senior citizen and chairperson of Kisoro district’s business community, lauded Ssekandi for his inclusive and social approach to everyone, irrespective of their background.

He highlighted Ssekandi’s expertise in security matters, which contributed to Kisoro’s overall security.

Expendito also noted that Ssekandi exemplifies the President’s traits of patriotism and nationalism.
