Over shillings 53 million was yesterday collected at St Peters cathedral Nyakatare in Kinkiizi Anglican diocese, Kanungu District during a thanksgiving service organized by the bishop of the diocese of Kinkiizi Rt. Rev. Dan Zoreka.
Bishop Zoreka who was joined by lay canons from Nyakatare cathedral says the thanksgiving marked the beginning of a fundraising drive towards the renovation of the cathedral roof which is estimated to cost over shillings 500m
Bishop Dan Zoreka was thankful to the Lord for his 12 years as a Bishop, 20 years in marriage and many other milestones he has achieved.
He gave thanks with shillings six million and two goats.
Dr. James Musinguzi Garuga who was present at this Thanksgiving contributed 25M whereas the Kanungu District LC5 Chairman, Eng. Sam Kajojo who also chairs the committee for re-roofing the cathedral, forecasted that metals bars will be used, and pledged to continue the mobilization for approximately 500M that is required to execute the works.
In his sermon Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi who was the main preacher encouraged the Christians to be patient with God, assured them that their right redemption and break through is soon manifesting.
