Educationists and political leaders in Kebisoni Sub County are mourning the passing of veteran educator and leader Mzee Moses Mabwa, fondly remembered for his remarkable contributions to education, civil service, and community leadership.

Mabwa, widely known by students as “Entare,” was a resident of Nyeibingo Parish in Kebisoni Sub County, Rukungiri District. He was celebrated as a dedicated parent, teacher, civil servant, and political leader, as well as a devout servant of God.

During his career, Mabwa served as a teacher at Kihanga and Nyamanyonyi Primary Schools and later worked as a forestry officer under the Ministry of Agriculture, overseeing Rubabo County. He also served as an agriculture teacher and deputy head teacher at Bishop Ruhindi Girls’ Kebisoni High School, St. Jerome SS Ndama, and Kahengye Parents SS. In addition to his educational roles, he was an influential leader in the church, serving as head of laity at both Nyeibingo Church of Uganda and St. Peter’s Mutaturwa Church of Uganda Parish. Mabwa also served as a Kebisoni Sub County District Councilor for two terms.

Retired private school head teacher Besigye Kahaya Atanasi described Mabwa as a distinguished agriculture teacher and a trusted counselor to many students.

Dick Oworinawe, a teacher at Bishop Ruhindi Kebisoni, praised Mabwa for being an exemplary educator and a sponsor of many successful individuals.

Canon John Bakwate, the head of laity at Mutaturwa Church of Uganda Parish, acknowledged Mabwa’s transparency and dedication in his roles as a church warden, civil servant, and community leader.

Nyeibingo Parish Councilor Keneema Todozio expressed deep regret over the loss of Mabwa’s patriotism, mentorship, and commitment to unity in the community.

George Byaruhanga Ruraka, the Sub County Councilor for the elderly, described Mabwa as a man of integrity, a wise counselor, and a patriot who educated his children and played a key role in resolving conflicts within the community.

Mzee Moses Mabwa’s legacy of service and leadership will be remembered by many in Kebisoni and beyond.
