Rev. Munturive NshabaRuhanga, the North Kigezi Diocesan Education Coordinator, has urged students to develop their skills and talents while in school to gain recognition.

He made this call on Saturday, 1st March 2025, while addressing debaters at Kashenyi Secondary School in Ruhinda Sub-County, Rukungiri District.

Rev. Munturive commended the administration of Kashenyi Secondary School for promoting holistic education, noting that debate enhances individual growth and future opportunities. He encouraged students to actively practice their skills and talents to foster a sense of belonging.

Rev. Ivan Mwongera, the school’s head teacher, praised students for their commitment to excelling in debate. He reaffirmed the school’s dedication to providing holistic education that empowers students to defend their rights in the future. He also expressed optimism that Kashenyi Secondary School would excel in the upcoming national-level competitions.

Robert Byamukama, the Debating Club patron, appreciated the school’s administration for supporting the club and commended the staff for their guidance. He expressed pride in the school’s growing reputation, highlighting its recent representation in South Africa.

Angela Linda, a student from Bishop Stuart University who presided over the adjudication, emphasized key debating principles such as personal updates and intellectual awareness. She highlighted how debating fosters self-learning, exposure, and networking.

Amos Twesigye, a former Senior Five student, expressed joy over receiving medals and praised Kashenyi Secondary School for shaping his integrity.

A total of 24 participants, representing eight groups from different classes, received certificates of merit, while the best speakers were awarded medals. The Senior Six team emerged as the overall winner and was crowned with a trophy.
