The Mothers’ Union of Kashenyi Parish in Kashenyi Archdeaconry, North Kigezi Diocese, on Sunday welcomed the Mothers’ Union from Mushunga Church of Uganda in West Ankole Diocese.

This gathering aimed to fortify their bond with Christianity.

Ven. James Busigye, the Archdeacon of Kashenyi Archdeaconry, recalled the inception of this relationship, which dates back to the tenure of retired Rev. Can Stephen Kanyonyi as the Archdeacon of Kashenyi Archdeaconry from 2000 to 2007. During a visit, gifts were exchanged, fostering a bond of love between the two churches.

He emphasized that this relationship was established to promote unity, share developmental ideas, and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Some fruitful friendships have blossomed from this connection, setting an example for other churches to follow.

Dinah Buhumure, a councilor from Mushunga Parish who also serves as the deputy speaker of Mitooma Sub-county, led the Mothers’ Union delegation from Mushunga Church of Uganda. She expressed satisfaction with the productivity of their relationship with Kashenyi Parish and urged both parties to safeguard it, recognizing its potential to advance their evangelical mission.

Rev. Geoffrey Bitakaramire, the parish priest of Mushunga Church of Uganda, highlighted the role of this bond in fostering Christian unity across North Kigezi. He emphasized its significance in advancing Christianity in both parishes and facilitating the exchange of gifts, including animals, which have contributed to household development.

Medius Mutabazi from Kashenyi Parish shared the tangible benefits they’ve reaped from this relationship, citing a cow gifted by Mushunga Church of Uganda that kick-started a successful cattle project, providing a source of income for the Mothers’ Union.

She encouraged other parishes to pursue similar connections for the advancement of their Mothers’ Union groups and the overall development of their Archdeaconry.
