Kariro Muslim Primary School in Rubindi has received a donation of 450 coffee seedlings from the Ankole-Kigezi regional branch of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council. The aim is to enhance economic growth and serve as a demonstration crop for the school.

Ms. Tumuhairwe Alice Hafisa, the headmistress of Kariro Muslim Primary School, expressed gratitude to the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council regional management team for providing the coffee seedlings. She emphasized that these seedlings will not only be a source of income for the school but also serve as a practical learning site for students to gain essential skills in coffee farming and marketing.

Ms. Tumuhairwe called upon parents and the surrounding community to help protect the banana and coffee fields from livestock and ensure their proper care and growth. She also highlighted recent developments at the school, including the installation of a borehole water pump to address water scarcity.

Encouraging a supportive environment for students, Ms. Tumuhairwe urged parents to maintain open communication with their children, providing them with nutritious packed meals to enhance their comfort and concentration during school hours.

Currently, Kariro Muslim Primary School has an enrollment of 315 pupils, with 34 preparing to sit for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) this year, comprising eighteen females and sixteen males.

Mbarara District Khadhi Mukwaya Abdul commended the donation from the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council’s Ankole-Kigezi region, noting its contribution to the economic development of Islamic educational institutions. Other schools benefiting from similar donations include Nyamitanga Secondary School, Shuhad Islamic Secondary School, and Bwizibwera Muslim Primary School.
