The tenderer overseeing street parking in Rukungiri municipality has expressed dissatisfaction with Hon. Patience Kinshaba Nkunda, the Kanungu district Woman Member of Parliament, for allegedly neglecting to settle her street parking charges.
The tenderer claims that Hon. Kinshaba had not paid for four parking receipts, and on Friday at approximately noon, her vehicle (registration number UAZ 065V) was clamped by Niwandinda Gideon, an employee of the Rukungiri Foundation for Community Development Association, which manages street parking in the area.
After her vehicle was clamped, Hon. Kinshaba approached the association’s leadership demanding details of how much she was supposed to pay. However, they informed her that she had not paid four receipts totaling Sh.50,000, a claim she disputed. Despite this, she hired welders to break the clamp and left the scene.
According to Mr. Kananura Augustine, the Chairperson of the Association, their policy dictates that individuals failing to pay more than one receipt valued at Sh.300 each will incur a penalty of Sh.50,000, as per the association’s regulations.
Kananura further disclosed that they reported the incident to the Rukungiri Central Police Station under reference number 32/19/4/2024.
Attempts to elicit a comment from Hon. Kishaba proved unsuccessful.
