In a poignant display of faith and devotion, Christians from diverse backgrounds in Kanungu gathered to commemorate the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Led by Fr. Celestin Bikorwomuhangyi the Assistant Parish Priest of Makiro catholic parish, the procession symbolized a collective journey of endurance and redemption.

Fr. Bikorwomuhangyi, while guiding the faithful, emphasized the importance of persevering through life’s trials and tribulations. He encouraged Christians to confront their challenges with fortitude, echoing the teachings of Christ on perseverance amidst suffering.

Central to the message was the call to repentance, as Fr. Bikorwomuhangyi urged participants to seek forgiveness for their sins to attain the promised kingdom of God. His words resonated deeply with the procession attendees, who sought spiritual renewal and reconciliation.

The procession featured a diverse array of participants, including traders, motorcyclists (bodabodas), porters, government workers, nuns, and catechists. Each group took turns leading the procession, with the largest cross carried proudly at the forefront.

The sight of Christians from various walks of life coming together to bear the weight of the cross served as a powerful symbol of unity and solidarity in faith. As they marched forward, they shared in a collective reflection the significance of Christ’s sacrifice and the hope it offers for salvation.
