The Kabale Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Gidion Akankwasa, a 38-year-old court bailiff from Rukungiri.
Gideon, a resident of Kanoni village in Maziba sub-county, Kabale district, Akankwasa was reportedly found dead near the garage of Hategeka Saverino’s house on January 15, 2024, around 5:00 AM.
Hategeka Saverino, the wife of Mwunva Mbonigaba, discovered the body and promptly informed her husband, who was away at work in Kabale central market. He rushed to Kabale Central Police Station to report the incident as a murder case (SD Ref: 07/15/01/2024).

The preliminary information suggests that Akanwasa had been unwell for some time and was found lying at the top of a cliff near the complainant’s residence. It is alleged that he slipped from the cliff, leading to a fatal fall.
The police visited and documented the scene, obtained statements from witnesses, conducted a post-mortem examination, and subsequently handed over the body to the relatives for a proper burial.
The investigation is ongoing to gather more details about the incident.
