The long-awaited judgment in the case involving Rukungiri District LC5 Chairperson contestant Angello Twinomuhangi Bagorogoza has been postponed for the fourth time.

Bagorogoza, running on the independent ticket, is facing one count of theft of UGX 440 million belonging to former Rubabo County Member of Parliament Mary Paula Turyahikayo and her husband, Eng. Godfrey Rwihunga Turyahikayo. According to the prosecution, the funds, which were intended to purchase land at Rwakaraba Plot 35, Block 18 for the MP’s family, were allegedly stolen between October 2020 and February 2021 from Kabale Centenary Bank branch.

The trial has experienced multiple delays. The judgment was first scheduled for August 20, 2025, by trial Magistrate Milly Chandiru but was adjourned after Bagorogoza failed to appear due to a serious accident in which he broke his arm. Subsequent hearings on August 29 and October 8 were also delayed as the accused underwent specialized treatment in Kampala. Bagorogoza had also filed a review application in the High Court (Miscellaneous Cause 001 of 2025) seeking a fresh trial by a different judicial officer; however, the High Court dismissed the application.

On Thursday, October 16, 2025, the case was set to be heard by Kabale Chief Magistrate Derrick Byamugisha due to the trial magistrate being on study leave. However, Byamugisha announced that he needed to consult Kabale High Court Judge Justice Karoli Lwanga Ssemogerere before reading the judgment. Consequently, the case has been adjourned to November 17, 2025.

This marks the fourth time the judgment in this high-profile case has been delayed, prolonging the uncertainty surrounding the allegations against the Rukungiri LC5 Chairperson candidate.
