The Southwestern Region Inter-Health Training Institutions Games and Sports Championships 2025 officially kicked off on Friday at Rukungiri Main Stadium, drawing together nursing and health institutions from across the region for two days of spirited competition and unity.
The annual event, hosted this year by Karoli Lwanga Institute of Health Sciences Nyakibale, commenced with athletics and will climax tomorrow with football, netball, and volleyball matches. Participating institutions hail from Rukungiri, Kanungu, Kabale, and Ntungamo districts.
The championship was officially flagged off by Rev. Fr. Ndyomugabe Barithzar, Chaplain of Karoli Lwanga Institute of Health Sciences, who encouraged athletes to embrace peaceful and respectful competition while upholding the values of teamwork and sportsmanship.
Institutions taking part in this year’s games include:
- Karoli Lwanga Institute of Health Sciences Nyakibale (Host) – Rukungiri
- Kisizi Hospital School of Nursing and Midwifery – Rukungiri
- Bwindi School of Nursing and Midwifery – Kanungu
- Kabale School of Comprehensive Nursing and Midwifery—Kabale
- Rugarama School of Nursing and Midwifery – Kabale
- Ntungamo Institute of Health Sciences – Ntungamo
