Police in Kisoro District are hunting for four armed suspects who shot and injured a shop attendant before robbing UGX 23 million in Mugomberero Trading Centre, Muramba Sub County.

The incident occurred on the night of April 29, 2025, at around 8:30 PM when the attackers allegedly stormed the shop belonging to Turinayo Michael. During the robbery, Mucunguzi Kenneth, 30, a shop attendant and resident of Rushenyi Village, was shot in the arm before the suspects fled with the cash.

According to preliminary police reports, the assailants fired multiple gunshots to disperse people in the area, creating panic and enabling their escape.

Officers from Kisoro Police Station responded swiftly, visited the scene, and documented evidence. Nine cartridges were recovered from the scene, and the victim was rushed to hospital for medical attention.

Police spokesperson for Kigezi region, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are underway. He assured the public that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

“We condemn this act of violence and are doing everything possible to bring the culprits to justice,” Maate said.

Authorities urge anyone with information related to the incident to report to the nearest police station.
