Police in Kazo District are investigating a murder by shooting that occurred on July 15, 2024, at around 21:45 hours in Kazo II, Kazo Town Council, Kazo District.
The incident was reported to the police on July 16, 2024, at 12:10 hours by the Manager for Western Uganda of Saracen Security Company. The manager reported that their guard, Mujurizi Michael, a 43-year-old male, had shot and killed Sunday Emmanuel, a 55-year-old male peasant and resident of Kazo II, Kazo Town Council, Kazo District, while on duty.
It is alleged that the suspect provides security for the residence and farm of Mr. Ruyondo Kwame. On July 15, 2024, at around 21:45 hours, while patrolling the farm, Mujurizi Michael saw a person in the farm armed with a panga, collecting firewood. When the deceased began to run away, the suspect shot him in the back. The suspect then informed his boss, who reported the matter to Kazo Police Station.
A case of murder by shooting was opened, and the police visited the crime scene. The scene was documented, and a primary examination of the body was conducted by the Scenes of Crime Officer, revealing that the deceased was shot from behind, with the bullet exiting through the chest.
Police also recovered one cartridge at the scene and retrieved the weapon, a CAR gun 12053656, with three live rounds of ammunition. The body of the deceased was taken to Ibanda Health Center IV mortuary for a postmortem examination, and the suspect was arrested to aid with the investigation.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
