A group of 38 elderly individuals from Buyanja Sub County/Town Council, organized under the Greater Buyanja Elder’s Association, embarked on a study tour today, Friday, 8th December 2023. The association, formed by residents of greater Buyanja, is dedicated to fostering development in the region by advocating for stable families, effective leadership, improved healthcare, and education.

Arinaitwe John Humura, the Association’s Mobilizer, shared that they chose the Kampala route, passing through Bombo, Nakasongora, and River Kafu, with plans to rest in Masindi District. Tomorrow, on 9th December, they will proceed to Murchison Falls and the National Park before returning to Masindi for accommodation. On Sunday, 10th December, they will head back to Rukungiri District via Fort Portal, making stops in Kasese District to tour Kilembe mines, Hima Cement factory, Katwe salt lake, and Mubuku irrigation Scheme before reaching Bushenyi District and concluding the journey in Rukungiri District.

Naome Asingwire Mugisha, a retired head teacher, expressed her delight, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to witness the beauty of her country, something she had not experienced before.

Kanyesigye Patrick, the Chairperson of the Greater Buyanja Elder’s Association, thanked God for making the tour possible and believed that the experience would be transformative, vowing to share their observations with the local community.

Agaba Emmy Rubondo, the Chairperson LC3 Buyanja Sub County, who was part of the tour, expressed appreciation for those who prayed for them and called for continuous prayers. He also urged elders who have not yet joined the Association to consider doing so to benefit from its initiatives.
