Bushenyi District police have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a German national who passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Kampala International University Teaching Hospital in Ishaka Division.
Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson Marcial Tumusiime confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Matthias Muller, 46, a German citizen holding passport number CCJOM7LZW.
According to reports, the case was filed by Sad Mugisha Kadingidi, 48, a DJ and resident of Kyenzaza Cell in Rubirizi District. Mugisha stated that he first met Muller in 2017 while performing in Kigali, Rwanda. The two became friends, and Muller later visited Mugisha at his home in Rubirizi before returning to Germany.
On March 18, 2025, Muller returned to Uganda to visit Mugisha but was reportedly suffering from a severe cough and had not been receiving any medical treatment. Concerned for his health, Mugisha took him to St. Benjamin Diagnostic Centre in Kyenzaza, Rubirizi District. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to Kampala International University Teaching Hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with lung cancer.
Despite receiving medical attention, Muller succumbed to his illness on the morning of March 27 at around 7:30 AM. Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding his death to rule out any foul play.
