General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations and chairperson of the MK project, expressed praise for the late Pius Byebiroha for his significant contributions and development efforts during his lifetime.

The condolence message was conveyed to mourners by Hon. Micheal Mawanda Maranga, the Igaara East Member of Parliament, during the burial of Byebiroha in Ihedamata Nyabubare Parish, Bwambara Sub County, Rukungiri District. Byebiroha, father of Ambrose Kibuuka, passed away at the age of 94.

Mawanda commended Byebiroha for leaving behind a positive legacy through hard work and emphasized the importance of working towards development and supporting the government. He also shared insights into the MK project, highlighting its aim to facilitate a peaceful transition in 2026, particularly if President Museveni chooses not to run for presidency, with Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba being a potential candidate.

Ambrose Kibuuka Tumwesigye, the son of the deceased, described his father as a dedicated advocate for development and education, emphasizing Byebiroha’s efforts to educate his children and contribute to societal progress. Kibuuka announced his intention to contest for a parliamentary seat in Rujumbura in the 2026 elections.

Various politicians, including Frank Arineitwe Rukanirwa, and those eyeing different seats in the 2026 elections attended the burial. Rev Fr Jeremiah Tumwijukye, the parish priest of Rwengiri parish, highlighted Byebiroha’s commitment to the Catholic faith and urged attendees to care for their parents while they are still alive. He cautioned against adhering to traditional norms after someone’s death, particularly concerning older individuals.

Dr. Pius Akwelo, the deceased’s personal doctor, explained that Byebiroha had suffered a head injury in the past, leading to a stroke and subsequent respiratory problems, ultimately resulting in aspiration pneumonia.

Geoffrey Kyomukama, the Rukungiri district chairperson, urged parents to prioritize their children’s education, emphasizing the importance of consistent enrollment in schools and discouraging the practice of changing schools frequently due to financial challenges.

The burial drew a large attendance, with notable figures such as Eng Sam Arineitwe, the Kanungu district chairperson, a delegation from the MK Movement, and leaders from Rukungiri district present.
