Kabale police have made significant strides in combating a spate of aggravated robberies that plagued the area in November. In an intelligence-led operation conducted on the night of November 26, 2024, law enforcement officers apprehended four suspects linked to a gang that has been terrorizing residents of Ibaare Cell, Rushaki Ward, Southern Division in Kabale Municipality.
The suspects include: Niwagaba Brian, alias Kajungu Saison, Owomugisha Michael, alias Kiboneire, Arinda Derrick, and Arinaitwe Ignitious, alias Marvin.
The four suspects are implicated in a robbery incident that occurred on November 18, 2024, along Mutebire Road. During the attack, Mbabazi Rogers was assaulted and robbed of three mobile phones. The case was registered under reference SD 38/18/11/2024 at Kabale Central Police Station (CPS).
As a result of the operation, two of the stolen phones have been recovered. Efforts are underway to apprehend additional suspects, including Innocent Niwandinda, alias Inno, who is believed to have the third phone. Police are also pursuing Mathius, who is accused of tampering with stolen phones by altering patterns and serial numbers to evade tracking.
Police spokesperson for the Kigezi region, ASP Elly Maate, emphasized the importance of continued intelligence efforts and similar operations to curb criminal activities in the region. He also called on community members to embrace neighborhood watch programs and promptly report suspicious individuals to authorities.
“This operation is a clear message that such criminal activities will not be tolerated. With the community’s cooperation, we can ensure a safer environment for everyone,” ASP Maate stated.
Investigations are ongoing, and police are confident that the culprits will face justice. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and support law enforcement efforts to maintain peace and security in the area.
