Police in Sheema District have arrested four individuals for refusing to participate in the ongoing national population and housing census. Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, stated that the suspects are from Kishabya West, Shuuku Town Council in Sheema District.

The suspects have been identified as Gaston Bamwesigye, 37; Subi Yonasan, 64; Evas Katurere, 50; and Aidah Bahendeka, 80. They are currently being held at Sheema Central Police Station.

These four individuals join two others who were previously arrested in Bugongi Town Council: Beatrice Bashemerirwe and Jastine Bahumwire.

According to Tumusiime, the group is associated with “The Good News,” commonly known as Egiri, a sect that forbids its members from participating in government programs, including the census.
