The Acting RDC for Rubanda District, Eric Ssewandingi, has ordered the arrest of five Parish Chiefs and SACCO leaders from Ikumba Sub-county and Nshanjare Town Council over allegations of extorting Parish Development Model (PDM) funds.
The suspects, identified as Lius Tumwesigye, Atuheire Unique, Tumwesigye Gerald, Ahimbisibwe Elia, and Mwesigye Justus, are accused of demanding between 50,000 to 100,000 shillings from PDM beneficiaries.
According to RDC Ssewandingi, Tumwesigye Justus, the Secretary for PDC Nshanjare Town Council, Arineitwe Ezera, the Chairperson for Loans, and Tumwesigye Gerald, the Chairperson of the PDC Committee SACCO for Nshanjare Town Council, have been involved in extorting 50,000 shillings from PDM beneficiaries. A total of 2.5 million shillings has been recovered from them, and they have been arrested.
Additionally, Tumwesigye Elias, the Chairperson of the Ikumba Parish Development Model, and Atuheire Unique, the Treasurer of the Ikumba Parish Development Model, are accused of extorting between 50,000 to 100,000 shillings from over 15 PDM beneficiaries. Both individuals have also been arrested.
