The Economic Advisor of the Ministry of Finance, Wilson Kadid, has encouraged students, especially those preparing for the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), in Ntungamo district to remain steadfast and well-prepared for the upcoming exams.

Kadid made this appeal during a thanksgiving event held at St. Philip’s Rwankoora Church of Uganda parish in the Bwongyera archdeaconry, South Ankole diocese, Ntungamo district. The event aimed to raise funds for the construction of the new Rwankoora parish church.

Kadid emphasized that many candidates tend to relax at the last moment, wrongly assuming they are well-prepared for exams, which often leads to disappointment. He, an aspiring candidate for the Kajara county MP seat in 2026, stressed the significance of education in driving development in various areas, urging parents to view it as a tool to transform their children’s lives.

Kadid also criticized the practice of some headteachers chasing students for school fees, which, he said, can negatively impact candidates’ performance.

During his sermon, Rev. Ivan Tayebwa Gambanokora, the parish priest of St. Philip’s Rwankoora Church of Uganda, highlighted the importance of supporting church projects such as construction and contributing to diocesan matters, as they contribute to development.

In an exclusive interview with our reporter, Enock Muhwezi Ssalongo, the head of laity for the parish, mentioned that, aside from church construction, they are involved in various development initiatives such as coffee cultivation, tree planting, and more. These initiatives are expected to generate income for the church in the future, reducing the need for fundraising and dependence on others.
