Sam Mugumya, one of Uganda’s strong-hearted opposition activists, who has been in detention in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for over 8 years has been set free.

According to several Opposition officials Mugumya will soon return to Uganda following his arrest in 2014 and subsequent detention at Ndolo Prison

An ardent admirer of Argentine Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara, Mugumya was arrested by Congolese security forces in October 2014 near the Ugandan border.

He would later be transferred to Ndolo Military Prison where he has since been held alongside other Ugandans.
