Four individuals who were previously supporters of the Forum For Democratic Change (FDC) party in Rukungiri district have switched their allegiance to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
Nabaasa Eric Kayangi, Kiiza James, Bindeba Moses, and others were formally welcomed into the NRM by Gen Jim Muhwezi, the Member of Parliament for Rujumbura constituency and Minister for Security, during an official event at Rukungiri Inn Gardens.
Gen Jim Muhwezi justified the decision of the former FDC supporters to join the NRM, citing the declining popularity of their former party in national politics. He commended the people of Rukungiri for their unwavering support for the NRM and assured them that their concerns would be prioritized by the government.
Highlighting the achievements of the NRM government under President Museveni, Gen Jim Muhwezi emphasized the peaceful environment for development created by the current administration. He urged Ugandans not to take this stability for granted, comparing it to the chaotic situations in previous regimes.
Some of the defectors explained that they left the FDC due to the realization that they were investing their support in a party with an uncertain future. They mentioned internal divisions within the FDC in the district as a factor that influenced their decision, emphasizing the continuous progress they observed in the NRM.
