Rev. Father Henry Barekye, the Assistant Priest and Chaplain at Christ the King Catholic Parish, has urged the youth to invest their time and energy in activities that will positively shape their future. This challenge was issued during his address at the preparatory meeting for the Christ the King Annual Youth Conference, held today on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Christ the King Community Hall in the Eastern Division of Rukungiri Municipality.
Father Barekye emphasized the idea that each individual is born with a key that plays a crucial role in determining their future. He warned that misusing this key can lead to a future filled with darkness. Additionally, Father Barekye advised those attending the conference to fully embrace the program and derive meaningful benefits, rather than causing confusion and attracting problems.
Mucunguzi James, the Youth Chairperson of Christ the King Catholic Parish, expressed readiness to organize a robust and orderly conference that has the potential to positively impact lives. He extended an invitation to youth from all religions to participate.
Ankunda Mackline, representing Nyakahanga Catholic Church and residing in Nyakahanga B Cell, Masya Parish, Nyakagyeme Sub County, called upon parents to support the conference. She pointed out that some parents are not adequately supporting their children.
The conference is scheduled to take place from the 24th to the 28th of this month, with its theme derived from the book of Genesis 3:9, which states, “But the Lord called on man, where are you.”
