Police in Rukiga are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the demise of 22-year-old Isaac Niwenshaba, a resident of Kiruhira in Kashekye parish, Kamwezi sub-county, Rukiga district.
Reportedly, on December 31, 2023, at approximately 08:00 hrs in Nyamihanga cell, Karorwa parish, Bukinda sub-county, Rukiga district, Niwenshaba and his associates were allegedly found in possession of suspected stolen cattle. A mob reportedly subjected him to severe beatings, leading to him falling into a coma, while his accomplices managed to escape. He was swiftly taken to Kamwezi Health Center IV, where he succumbed to his injuries at around 11:30 hrs.
Upon receiving the information, the police visited the scene, documented the incident, and conducted a postmortem at Kamwezi Health Center IV. The body was subsequently released to the deceased’s family for burial.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
