Nakarema Olivia, a 42-year-old mother of 8 children from Ntungamo District, is seeking justice after the forceful demolition of their residence. She and her husband, Mugisha Bruno, aged 52, have resided in a commercial building near Rwanjeru trading center in Rukungiri District for the past 24 years.

The house was demolished on January 20, 2024, by strong men hired by Kamusiime Aggrey, the area Chairperson LC1, who had lent Mugisha Bruno 3 million with an agreement that included the condition of selling the plot if he failed to repay.

Nakarema Olivia reported the matter to the police, Resident District Commissioner’s office, and Probation office to no avail. She claims to be legally married for 24 years and was unaware of the plot being sold. The demolition resulted in the loss of all their household items, including food, leaving the family stranded.

Mugisha Bruno confirmed borrowing 3 million from Kamusiime Aggrey, with interest accumulating to around 5 million. He requested an extension of time to repay, but Kamusiime Aggrey refused.

Despite attempts to contact Kamusiime Aggrey for a comment, he declined. The incident has been registered at Nyakishenyi Police Post under File NO: SD REF 09/20/01/2024. The family is now seeking assistance from authorities in resolving this matter.
