Police in Rubirizi District are currently searching for suspected criminals who robbed money from an 80-year-old woman.
The incident occurred on 29/02/2024 around 2:00 AM in Nyakakaka village, Ndekye parish, Ryeru sub-county, within Rubirizi District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi Police, confirmed the occurrence and identified the victim as Dinah Violet Tindimwebwa, aged 80, a peasant residing in Nyakakaka village, Ndekye parish, Ryeru sub-county, Rubirizi District.
According to reports, an unidentified individual entered the victim’s residence through the toilet window using a wooden ladder. Upon finding the victim asleep in her bedroom, the perpetrator shone a torchlight on her face, awakening her, and demanded money and a smartphone under threat of violence.
Tumusiime stated that the suspect brandished a machete, pressing it against the victim’s neck. In the ensuing struggle, the victim sustained injuries to her left fingers, compelling her to hand over 78,000 shillings to the assailant.
Subsequently, the suspect fled using the same entry point. The victim sought assistance from neighbors after the incident.
