Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa urged residents in Mitooma District to capitalize on the government services being provided to enhance their household income.
Speaking as the chief guest during the launch of a new electricity line connecting Busheregyenyi parish and Rutookye Town council, Tayebwa emphasized the importance of utilizing services like electricity and water, which are being brought closer to the people. This call came in response to public demand expressed at gatherings held at Katooma and Kigano trading centers.
The government’s efforts to extend essential services are aimed at empowering communities economically, Tayebwa emphasized. Eng John Babtist Nuwamanya, the managing director of MTSL Energies Limited, contracted by UMEME for the project, outlined that the construction will span three months, covering areas such as Kigarama Primary School, Omukashojwa, Kigano Trading Centre, Kyantonde, Rutsiro, Katooma, and Rutookye Town Council.
Juliet Agasha Bashisha, the woman Member of Parliament for Mitooma District, cautioned residents against fraudulent individuals offering counterfeit services such as low-quality wiring and electrical materials. Meanwhile, Charity Turinawe, the District lady councillor representing Rutookye and Bitereko sub-counties, expressed relief at the long-awaited electrification of Busheregyenyi parish, highlighting it as a significant government achievement.
