The Security Minister Hon Maj General Jim Muhwezi on Tuesday 26th of September 2023 launched the construction of a theatre estimated to cost 600 million at Rukungiri Health center 4 Rwamahwa in Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.
The construction will be done by the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) Engineering brigade and is projected to be finished in 6 months.
Hon. Major General Jim Muhwezi who was the chief guest lauded Hon Dr Elisa Rutahigwa for lobbying the facility noting that he is leading other MPs in seeking Rukungiri Referral hospital and the construction of the theatre is the beginning of the way to get the referral hospital.
He further challenged people to work hard for the development of their Country noting that Uganda has been affected by the outbreak of COVID-19 but it has not affected the economy like other countries including America where the inflation level stands at 5.6%.
Hon Dr Elisa Rutahigwa, the Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament lauded the Ministry of Health for funding the construction of the theatre in addition to the Maternity ward that will also be constructed by the UPDF Engineering brigade after the completion of the theatre where 400 million has been secured to faciltate the project.
Major Mawanda Francis Kashias, the UPDF officer who led the construction team noted that they are focused on quality work and value for money and asked for the public cooperation.
