Residents of Nyamabaale Cell in Nyabushenyi, Nyarushanje Sub County in Rukungiri district are expressing dissatisfaction with the deplorable condition of the Nyabushenyi – Omukiyenje road via Kigaaga. The road’s condition is deteriorating further due to heavy rains, rendering it impassable and hazardous.

Katushabe Henry, the chairperson LC 1 of Nyamabaale village, emphasized the imminent danger posed by the current state of Nyamabaale Bridge, which collapsed in 2021 due to heavy rains. This has made transportation, especially during heavy rains, extremely challenging, affecting the conveyance of patients to hospitals and other essential commodities to town.

Henry highlighted their attempts to bring the issue to the attention of local leaders, but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. He expressed concern for the safety of children, especially with the impending school reopening, as crossing the impassable bridge becomes a risky endeavor.

Despite seeking assistance from various offices in the Sub County and district, Byamukama Bernard, the chairperson LC 2 of Nyabushenyi Parish, reported that they have received no help. He urged the district authorities to address the matter promptly to prevent potential loss of lives and assured them that the community is prepared to protest if necessary.
