The police in Kanungu are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Jonah Turyatunga, a 23-year-old chapati maker residing in Rutwe cell, Kihihi ward, Kanungu district.

It is alleged that on October 23, 2023, around 06:00PM, at Rutwe village in Kihihi town council, Kanungu district, the deceased, who worked as a chapati maker, was electrocuted and fatally burned while attempting to connect to live power for his daily chapati-making work. This unfortunate incident led to his immediate demise.

The police received information about the incident from Justus Barekye, and they subsequently visited the crime scene. They conducted investigations, gathered statements from witnesses, and arranged for the body to be transported to Kihihi Health Center IV for a postmortem examination.

Following the postmortem, the deceased’s remains were handed over to his family for a proper burial.

Furthermore, an inspection by the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is pending to determine whether the electrical connection in question was legal or illegal.
