Retired Capt. JB Tumusiime Bamuturaki, the former Chairperson of Mbarara District, has urged people to avoid leaders who promote identity politics and create religious and tribal divisions, as such actions hinder effective service delivery.
He explained that since the NRM government assumed power, it has focused on promoting unity and reconciliation, with the aim of uniting all people created by the Almighty God to work together towards steady social and economic development.
Capt. JB Tumusiime delivered this message while addressing congregants at St. John Rutooma Church of Uganda, Ankole Diocese, during Christian Women’s Day in Bwizibwera, Rutooma Town Council, Kashari South, Mbarara District.
He emphasized that discussing segregation within NRM leadership does not foster development and reminded the public to be vigilant against leaders who propagate divisive rhetoric, which ultimately leads to underdevelopment.
Capt. JB Tumusiime pledged to continue supporting church programs and initiatives aimed at the church’s growth.
Ms. Tumuhairwe Jenifer, Chairperson of the Rutooma Church of Uganda Women Christian Fellowship, expressed gratitude to all local leaders who participated in the celebrations.
Other attendees included Mbarara District Councilors, such as Ms. Loydah Twinomujuni Kyarikunda, the Rubaya Sub-County District Woman Councilor, who encouraged believers, especially married couples, to support each other to achieve rapid development.
