Canon Twinomujuni Wycliffe Mackay, the former head teacher of Kashenyi Secondary School in Ruhinda Sub County, Rukungiri District, was on Friday confirmed as the new Chairperson Board of Katurika Secondary School in Buhunga Sub County, Rukungiri District, replacing Mr. Benson Asiimwe whose term of leadership has ended.

Canon Mackay is going to be working with other board members including: foundation body representatives Mr. Byarugaba Arthur, Ven. Amos Katushabe, Ms. Hosea Kimbugwe, and Rev. Edison Ampaire.

Others are Nahwera Santurina representing the local government, Mr. Kamugissha Joshua and Nabaasa Sarah representing teachers, Mr. Busingye Emmy and Mr. Turyahabwe Charles for parents, Ms. Natukunda Jackline as the LC III representative, and Mr. Kahangi Benon representing old students.

Benson Asiimwe, who has been the Board Chairperson, highlighted some of the achievements made during their term of leadership, including improving students’ standards in both academics, discipline, and fear for God.

He said during their time, they have done construction works in the school, improving infrastructure, as well as ensuring that there is a good working relationship between parents, teachers, and the school administration for the smooth running of the school.

He said they have paved the way for the new board to move the school forward, noting that there are some ongoing projects at the school that the new board should gear up to complete.

Canon Mackay, the new Board Chairperson, said that as Chairperson Board, he will at all times work well with his board members and the school head teacher to continue developing the school since the old board has laid a good foundation for them.

He said he will focus on ensuring discipline of both students and teachers as well as fear for God.

According to Counsel Mark Mwesigye, a commissioner who presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the new board (15.12.2025–15.12.2028), and was chosen by the State Minister for Higher Education John Chrysostom Muhingo, he is eligible to lead the school.

He highlighted some of the responsibilities of the school’s Board of Governors, such as being the leaders of the school, overseeing how school properties and funds are managed, and maintaining a good working relationship between teachers, parents, and school authorities.

Muhumuza Sam, the head teacher of Katurika Secondary School, hailed the outgoing school board for being committed to developing the school, noting that the work it has done is a good base for the new board.

He vowed to work hand in hand with the new board to ensure the smooth running of the school, since most of the members are educationists.
