Police in Bushenyi District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal assault of a 45-year-old man, God Tebekana. The incident occurred in Rwemiswa village, Mazinga ward, Kakanju Sub-county, Bushenyi District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi Police, confirmed the incident, stating that the victim, God Tebekana, was assaulted and later succumbed to his injuries at Kampala International Teaching Hospital. The alleged assailant has been identified as Alex Musinguzi, a 43-year-old instructor at Bushenyi Vocational Institute and a resident of Rwemiswa village.
The incident reportedly took place on 22/11/2023 around 1:00 PM at a bar in Rwamiswa trading center. A quarrel erupted between the victim and the suspect, leading God to pick up a stone and strike Alex on the upper part of the left eye.
According to Lauren Taremwa, the LC1 chairperson of Rwamiswa village, the suspect, Alex, then laid in wait for God. The altercation reignited, and Alex, armed with a machete, confronted God in the center. The two engaged in a violent confrontation using the same machete and sticks, resulting in God sustaining severe injuries to the head, rendering him unconscious.
Tumusiime reported that Alex was rushed to Kampala International Teaching Hospital for medical attention, while God, unidentified in the area, remained on the roadside bleeding. Later, he was taken to a local hospital, but unfortunately, he passed away around 11:00 on 22/11/2023.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
