Bushenyi District Chairman Jafari Basajjabalaba has advocated for the establishment of additional administrative units to enhance service delivery and alleviate unemployment.

Speaking at a stakeholders meeting (Baraza) organized by the West Ankole Civil Society Forum in Nyabubare sub-county, Bushenyi District, Basajjabalaba emphasized that creating more administrative units would generate employment opportunities for unemployed youth. He highlighted that the government allocates resources based on administrative units, such as the Parish Development Model, indicating that increased units lead to greater funding for sub-counties, benefiting the populace.

Basajjabalaba encouraged citizens to submit proposals and request letters to the District council to support the creation of additional units, such as parishes.

Apollo Lee Kakonge, the Executive Director of the West Ankole Civil Society Forum, stated that these Baranzas are supported by GIz and the European Union, aiming to foster closer accountability between leaders and the community for improved service delivery.

However, Robert Atuhairwe, the Bushenyi District RDC, urged people to prioritize requests for new administrative units based on their potential to enhance services for all Bushenyi residents, regardless of religion or political affiliation.
