Families and children affiliated with the Bridge of Hope Children Ministry, a non-governmental organization, were filled with joy today as they received a generous donation of relief items and funds from the Bridge of Hope Nursery and Primary School in Kahangye, Rukungiri District.
In the spirit of Christmas, Bridge of Hope distributed essential items such as maize flour, soap, rice, and a monetary contribution of 70,000 shillings to more than 200 children and their parents in their homes.
Mr. Benjamin Abaasa, the founder of Bridge of Hope Children Ministry in Rukungiri District, expressed that the purpose of this support is to create a positive impact and uplift the lives of those in need within their communities. The organization, through its school, provides free education to orphans and underprivileged children.
Additionally, each child or household affiliated with the organization receives a monthly cash allowance of 50,000 shillings to assist with various home activities or savings. Mr. Benjamin emphasized the organization’s dedication to social justice and comprehensive care for children facing extreme poverty, irrespective of their religious or social backgrounds.
Highlighting the organization’s broader community impact, Benjamin mentioned that Bridge of Hope has not only supported children but has also constructed houses and toilets for those in need. Furthermore, the organization has successfully transformed unsanitary water ponds into protected springs in Rukungiri District.
Members of the community, both parents and children who received the donated items, expressed their gratitude towards the organization. They commended Bridge of Hope for consistently offering much-needed support, especially during the Christmas season, when many of them were uncertain about how they would make it through.
