On Tuesday, the Bushenyi High Court, under the jurisdiction of Justice Amos Kwizera, handed down a 14-year sentence to Brian Natwijuka for charges related to kidnapping and attempted murder.
The court proceedings, led by Resident State Attorney Gelard Baguma, revealed that in 2019, while in Kibutamo, Sheema District, Natwijuka abducted Vincent Tumuhaise from the same locality with the intent to commit murder.
The prosecution further detailed that during the kidnapping, the accused also stole money and a phone. Natwijuka pleaded guilty to these charges. Prior to the sentencing, the defendant requested leniency, citing that it was his first offense and highlighting that he did not waste the court’s time and resources.
Justice Kwizera, however, delivered a 14-year sentence, specifying that each account of kidnapping and theft would be served concurrently, resulting in a cumulative sentence of 14 years for the accused.
